EQUINE MAJOR MEDICAL & SURGICAL COVERAGE SUMMARY

Full Mortality Coverage must be purchased in order to purchase major medical and surgical coverage!

After a $200-$250 per claim deductible, this coverage will pay all reasonable & customary charges of a licensed veterinarian's) which are necessitated by accident, illness, disease or injury occurring during the policy period of insurance for which mortality coverage is in force and incurred no later than 30 days after the expiration date of the policy or the mortality coverage period of the insured horse.

Limit of Insurance: Limits of $5000 and $7500 are available depending on the value of the horse and the company the horse is insured with. Diagnostics in respect to non-surgical lameness is limited to $1,000 per occurrence.

Deductible: Depending on the Company either a $200 or $250 deductible applies per occurrence before the company will pay costs.

Exclusions: This coverage excludes claims arising from any of the following:

1. Any undisclosed condition of the horse or any condition excluded by the policy or by any endorsement to which this endorsement is attached. 

2. Any elective surgery &/or procedures including but not limited to castration, caslicks, cosmetic procedures, chiropractic, massage, acupuncture treatment, aquarted, whirlpool, treadmill treatment, laser treatment, &/or magnetic blanket treatment.

3. Any claim as a result of willful or malicious injury &/or poisoning &/or gross negligence whether or not caused by the insured.

4. Birth Defects &/or congenital conditions such as but not limited to undescended testicles, umbilical hernia, or corrective treatment such as for contracted tendons whether evident or not at the effective date of coverage.

5. Costs of transportation, veterinary travel, call charges, &/or any treatment normally associated with the maintenance of a healthy horse.

6. Charges for any treatment rendered more than 30 days prior to notifying us of the condition.

7. Any post mortem &/or necropsy procedures.

8. Any dental procedures.

9. Any procedures or preventative joint treatment such as intra-muscular or intra-articular injections of synovial fluid, stimulators or replacers including corticosteroids &/or anabolic steroids whether or not used in conjunction with any other treatments.

10. Any horse used for racing or intended for racing.

11. Any horse less than 30 days old or over 16 years of age.

This coverage is subject otherwise to the terms, conditions, exclusions and limitations of the individual policy to which this endorsement is attached.

Premium Charge: The Premium charge for this coverage is $150 - $175 per year and is not refundable.
