The Following is a brief description and outline of coverage's available.

Farm/Ranch Owners Coverage: This is an insurance package specifically designed for farm & ranch operations and private farms and allows you to insure your home, contents, farm buildings , tack and horse equipment, farm equipment and other limited coverage's. Full Mortality: Provides coverage for the insured equine in the event of death as a result of injury, illness, humane destruction, transportation &/or theft. Includes either $2500 or $3000 of emergency colic surgery coverage depending on the company. 12 Month Extension: Guarantees the reassurance of the mortality policy as previously issued. Example if the horse colic's during the policy term without this coverage the next renewal will exclude death of the animal due to colic. With this endorsement there will be no exclusions. Limited Mortality: Provides coverage for the insured equine in the event of death due to certain types of accidental causes such as fire, lighting, transportation, windstorm, explosion, &/or theft. A rate of 1-1.25% Applies with no vet exam required. This is a good coverage for the older horses where the full mortality rate is too high. Special Accident Coverage: Offers coverage to the insured equine for death caused by or resulting in an external & visible accident. Will also pay for the euthanasia if made necessary as a result of fractures caused by an external & visible accident where a licensed veterinarian certifies that the covered livestock will not respond to medical treatment. Again a good coverage for the older horse where the full mortality rate is too high. Major Medical & Surgical: Available to all horses except racing animals. After a deductible of $200-$300 per claim, this coverage pays most veterinary medical and surgical expenses from $5000 up to $7500. Barrenness Coverage: Provides coverage should your mare fail to conceive. Insured value is the stud fee, or no guarantee season paid. Coverage is subject to company review of the mares foaling history & age, & history of the stallions fertility records. Prospective Foal Coverage: Provides coverage for the loss if foal fails to be born alive & survive. Foal can be covered for 30 days, 90 days, or 1 year. Coverage is subject to company review of the mares foaling history & age. Stallion Accident, Sickness & Disease Coverage: Provides coverage in the event of your stallion becoming permanently & totally incapable of impregnating mares as the result of any accident, sickness, or disease. Congenital Infertility is also available for the stallion breeding for the first year. Stallion Availability: Provides coverage in the event the stallion your mare is to be bred to fails to be in sound breeding condition or is unable to fulfill the share of obligation for a cause outside of your control. Rate is based on the age of the stallion. "Outside of your control" does not include something wrong with the mare presented to the stallion. Fall of Hammer Coverage: Coverage's can be bound immediately upon the fall of the hammer at any reputable auction, or sale. Coverage should be arranged prior to sale or auction. Group Deductible Policy: A deductible for a large schedule of horses. This coverage is written at a reduced rate as opposed to a single mortality policy. This coverage form provides the insured with a lower cost in exchange for self insurance of a % of the total value insured. Installment Payment Options: Depending on the company installment options are available of 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, or 10 payments. Veterinarian Exams: Required for animals being insured for full mortality with values exceeding $15,000. Animals under $15,000 require a declaration of health to be signed by the insured. Justification of Value: Required for animals being insured for more than their purchase price. Justification of value can include training fees, transport fees, stud fees, price being paid for foals sold of the mare &/or stallion, show records, appraisal performed by a certified appraiser, or racing records.
